Tonteg Post Office has moved to The Precinct and to celebrate its successful relocation, Owen Smith MP officially cut the ribbon to open the new branch on Friday.
New Post Office operators, Piero and Judith Fulgoni successfully applied to run Tonteg Post Office, following the former Subpostmaster’s retirement. The couple, who also run Cycleogical, which stocks bikes and cycling gear, have incorporated the Post Office Local into the shop, much to the delight of their customers.
Piero Fulgoni said:
“Tonteg Post Office has always been the anchor of Tonteg and we wanted to keep the Post Office at the heart of the community. The focus of our shop has changed. Our cycle business is taking off online and we’ve been able to devote more space to the Post Office.
“Customers are really pleased with the service and we’ve had some great feedback. The parking outside the shop is a great asset as well as the longer opening hours. It’s a bright, modern and spacious area for customers to transact their Post Office business and we’re delighted to be able to offer the service,” he added.
Owen Smith MP said:
“I am delighted to be opening this new look Post Office here in Tonteg, it plays a vital role in the area and its improved accessibility will no doubt make it much easier for local people to enjoy.
“I’m really impressed by the modern refurbishment of the Tonteg branch, we all know how important the Post Office is in our local communities across the Pontypridd constituency and I’d like to thank Mr and Mrs Fulgoni for their hard work in making it such a success.
“The new shop looks brilliant and the extended opening hours and parking facilities will make it much more accessible to local residents. I am really pleased to be opening this new branch and wish it every success for the future.”
