Commenting after the match, Owen Smith said:
“Saturday’s game was a credit to Ponty RFC who carried the flag for international rugby just as we have done for over half a century. Though it was devastating to draw the game and to lose in the fashion we did, especially after the inexplicably long second half, the team was still magnificent and I, like the other fans, felt proud to be a part of it.
“Over five thousand people turned out to the watch the game, three thousand more than most Saturdays and I would urge them to continue to support their local side for the Swalec Cup Final on Sunday and the play offs later in May”
