Bryn Celynnog HQ at Bryn Celynnog Comprehensive School were selected by Pontypridd’s AM and MP to design their Christmas cards , sponsored by local firm Edwards Coaches.
The HQ provides education and support to pupils with learning difficulties, particularly Autism and Aspergers, and is noted for its success and achievements.
Each year Mick and Owen send out a joint card to local businesses and constituents. Edwards Coaches sponsor the cards and provide prizes and goody bags for the successful students.
This year the winner was Ethan Jones from year 9 and the runners up were Jakob O’Neill of year 9, Libby Monk Year 7 and Casey Clayton of Year 7.
Winner Ethan was presented with a £20 WH Smiths gift voucher, with the runners up each getting a £10 voucher for the store. The winner and the runners up also received an Edwards Coaches goodie bag with fun freebies to take home. Five hundred Christmas cards with the winner’s design have now been sent out to local community groups and organisations across the Pontypridd Constituency.
Owen Smith said:
“What is great about the HQ is the way it brings out the best in students and gives them confidence despite their difficulties. The talent of the students can be seen in the wonderful Christmas card designs. We would both like to thank Edwards Coaches and Bryn Celynnog for their support in helping us achieve this fantastic card.”
Mick Antoniw said:
“The quality of the education at Bryn Celynnog speaks for itself and the design of the Christmas cards was fantastic. It is always such a pleasure to see the happiness and enthusiasm of the students.”
Jason Edwards added:
“It was a real pleasure to be involved once again in this year’s Christmas card competition. I was so impressed by the enthusiasm and excitement of the children and teachers and the welcome that they gave us; there were so many great entries but the picture of Pontypridd Bridge is close to my heart and therefore, a very worthy winner. Edwards Coaches are proud to support the local community and initiatives like this really are important in reaching out to adults and children alike.
“It was also really great to work alongside our local representatives Owen Smith and Mick Antoniw and I’m pleased Edwards Coaches are a part of their 2013 Christmas card.”
