Local MP Owen Smith and AM Mick Antoniw judged the Tonteg Dog show last weekend [28/09/2013].
Organised by Councillor Jean Hutchinson, the event attracted lots of people from the community along with their furry friends to compete for the highly coveted prizes and raise money for the Wales Air Ambulance.
Judging the wiggliest tail competition, Pontypridd Assembly Member Mick Antoniw said
“It is wonderful that the community in Tonteg have come together for a fun afternoon whilst raising money for a fantastic cause such as the Wales air ambulance service.
“Both Owen and I are honoured to be judging the categories and have found it extremely difficult with such a fine display of dogs on offer! The thought did cross my mind about entering my own dog ‘pebbles’ in the category of ‘most appealing eyes’ as she always manages to get an extra treat out of me!”
Shadow Secretary of State, Owen Smith MP said,
“I thoroughly enjoyed judging the competitions at the Tonteg Dog Show and I would like to thank local Councillor Jean Hutchinson and the Tonteg Community Centre for arranging such a wonderful event.”
Other categories at the dog show included; Wiggliest Tail, Most appealing eyes, Best Puppy, Young handler, Best working dog, Best non-working dog, Best condition and Best in show. Trophies/certificates were awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with refreshments being served as well as dog biscuits.
The Dogs trust were also at the Community Centre offering free micro-chipping. You can find out when they’ll next be in the area at www.chipmydog.org.uk
